Borrowing books takes
place in the
Lending Division of the Main Library. It is registered in the library
computer
system. Readers may also take advantage of Interlibrary Loans and
Branch Libraries services.
Enrolling at the
Library
Every Patron who has got
the electronic ID card of TU of Lodz is authomatically enrolled at the
Library and has the right to use its services.
Otherwise the user to enroll has to visit the library Monday to Friday 9.00
to 19.30, Saturday 9.00 to 15.00

A valid Library Card
gives the right
to use the Lending Room. |
| 2.3. |
The Library Card
enables the persons
mentioned in § 2. 1a–f to use the Technical University Library
Lending Room, the branch libraries collections and electronic resources. |

Circulation loan
conditions |
| 3.1. |
In order to obtain a
current Library
Card in the Technical University Main Library the following documents
should
be provided respectively: |

a) all interested:
- a completed
application form that is a
commitment to obey the rules of the Technical University Library,
and it is also the approval of the loan registration system used in the
Library.
and moreover
b) academic Staff members
- a document proving
their full time job
(in the form agreed upon between the Library Director and University
authorities)
- one photograph
c) postgraduate Ph.D.
Students
- student's book with
current registration
- one photograph
d) Retired Technical
University Staff
- a proof of identity
- retirement from TU
of Lodz certificate
- one photograph
e) external Readers

The Reader is charged
for the Library
Card. The cost of the newly issued card is given in the Annexe
1. |

Academic Staff
Library Card is valid
throughout their working period. |
| 3.4. |
Retired Technical
University Staff
Library Card is valid without time limit. |
| 3.5. |
Library Card for
deposit loans (mentioned
in 3.1.e) is issued for five years. |
| 3.6. |
Library Card of the
Honorary Reader
is valid indefinitely. |
| 3.7. |
A Reader may be in
the possession of
only one library card.

| 3.8. |
Technical University
of Lodz staff
are authorized to set a proxy to collect the ordered books. |
| 3.9. |
A proxy has to be a
reader registered
in the library system of the Library. |
| 3.10. |
The Library Card (electronic ID card of TU of Lodz) is
not transferable.
Failure to obey this regulation will result in the right to use the
library
being withdrawn (for both persons involved). |
| 3.11. |
The loss of the
Library Card or any
name or address changes should be reported to the Lending Division
immediately. |
| 3.12. |
In order to obtain a
duplicate of Library
Card or for its replacement, if any Reader's personal data is changed,
the documents mentioned in § 3. 3.1. should be submitted in the
Computer
Workshop - Ground Floor, Room 3. The Reader is charged for the Library
Card duplicate in accordance with the Annexe 1. |

Borrowing allowances

a) academic Staff members
and
postgraduate Ph.D.
Students - 25 vols. for
180 days, one renewal
b) students - 16 vols.
for 90 days, one renewal
Students who attend
courses in two
different faculties can borrow up to 24 vols. for 90 days, one
renewal
c) Retired Technical
University Staff - 5 vols. for 90 days, one renewal
d) other Readers - 3 vols.
for 30 days, no renewals

Renewal can be done
in duration of
30 days prior the fixed time of return, not before. |
| 3.15. |
All books on loan can
be subject to
recall after a shorter loan period if there is a big demand on them;
also,
giving important reasons the Director can designate another due date
and
time different than regular discharge date. |

The Lending Room
gives the Reader the
confirmation of clear accounts in the Main Library and its branches if
all the obligations are met and the Library Card is returned. |
| § 4. |
Loan rules |
| 4.1. |
The necessary
condition of checking
out circulating material from the Library is presentation of a valid
Library
Card. The account should be
clear
from blockades
(e.g.. because of overdue items, not paid fees, books not collected on
time etc.). |
| 4.2. |
If there is no
photograph on their
Library Cards, the Readers are obliged to support
the
card with a proof of identity. |
4.3.

Readers borrow books directly
from
Open Access Book Stack when the
Library is open. |
|
Books from the Open
Access Book Stack may be borrowed on the spot, in self Checkout system
or at the stand of the
librarian
on duty, on presentation of a valid Library Card. |
4.4.
|
Books belonging to BGPL location may be
ordered in
computer
system only when the Library is
closed, work days from 20.00 to 7.00 and during weekends and holidays.
They should be
collected within three days since the day the order
was made.

| 4.5. |
The Readers paying the deposit fee
are obliged to present in the Lending Room a receipt as a proof of
deposit
paid. The receipt will be returned to the Reader on return of the
books,
and it will enable the deposit collection. |
| 4.6. |
The Reader who
neither collected reserved
books on time, nor made order cancellation, will be punished by
suspension
of their rights to lend books in the Main Library and Branch Libraries
for period of 14 days since the time they should collect books from the
Lending Room. |
| 4.7. |
If the fine for late
return of books,
imposed on Readers who have paid the deposit, is not paid, the adequate
part of deposit will be deducted. |
| 4.8. |
Loan and return
transactions are computer-
registered by the Library Staff member. |
| 4.9. |
Every Reader is
obliged to become acquainted
with his borrower's account on suitable terminals after every loan
transaction.
Any doubts should be cleared immediately on the spot. |
| 4.10. |
A Reader who returns
the books by post
entitles the Lending Room Staff to carry out discharge function without
himself being present, and bears all consequences resulting from this
Statute. |
| § 5. |
Restrictions |
| 5.1. |
Making copies is
subjected to currently
binding Law:
a) the subject of
complete copying
prohibition are unpublished work e.g.. doctoral thesis
c) published items are
allowed for
copying in fragments, for copying Readers personal use.
The Reader may use such
copies for
their personal use. Copies may not be reproduced or distributed among
other
persons. |

If the searched
materials are missing
in the TU Main Library or branch libraries, the Library can get them
from
another library on the Reader's request. Borrowing materials from other
libraries and scientific institutions takes place by principles of
exchange. |

The use of the
Interlibrary Lending
Room services is restricted to Technical University Staff, Technical
University
undergraduate Students preparing their degree - M.Sc. thesis and Ph.D.
Students. |
| 6.4. |
The condition to
place an order in
the Interlibrary Lending Room is having the valid Library Card. |
| 6.5. |
The order should be
made in the request
form (that can be downloaded
f rom the Internet site of the Library). The Reader should place it
personally in the Interlibrary Lending Room or send it. |
| 6.6. |
The Library that
borrows the materials
takes all responsibility for the condition of borrowed materials and
for
obeying the regulations and any special requirements of the lending
Institution. |
| 6.7. |
The materials got
from another library
on the Reader's request may not be transported outside the Library.
These
can be consulted only on the library premises in the Reading Rooms. |

The Reader bears all
the expenses connected
with getting the materials from another Polish or foreign library. |
