Chemistry Library

About the Library - history and collections

The Chemistry Library was established in 1948 on the initiative of prof. Osman Achmatowicz. Initially it was a reading room located on the fourth floor of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering. In 1964, the Chemistry Library became the first branch of the Lodz University of Technology Library. In 2002 it was moved to modern, three-storey building located next to the Faculty of Chemistry. Now there are two reading rooms, two seminar rooms with multimedia equipment, an archive of archival prints and other rooms, as well as reprographic equipment: scanners, printers and photocopiers. The collection of the Chemistry Library counts over 10 thousand book volumes and more than 27 thousand periodicals.
