For many years, the Library of Lodz University of Technology has been the leader in the consortium of the Lodz Academic Library Network whose task is to administer and develop a library system common to ten academic libraries. The result of the consortium's activities is the implementation of the Symphony system and the launch of the CYBRA Lodz Regional Digital Library.
The CYBRA project was established thanks to co-financing from the EU as part of the Regional Operational Programme of the Lodz Province for 2007-2013, Measure IV.2 E-public services. The Library of Lodz University of Technology also implemented the CRIS and URPD-retro project. The first of them was aimed at creating a university platform with the functionality of current research information systems to support knowledge and science management at Lodz University of Technology.
The Library of Lodz University of Technology implemented a project: Welcome TULbox ‘Supporting the organisational capacity and qualifications of the administrative staff of Lodz University of Technology in terms of providing services to foreign students and academic staff’ as part of the NAWA Welcome to Poland programme.
The programme was co-financed by the European Social Fund as part of the Operational Programme Knowledge Education Development, a non-competitive project entitled ‘Raising the competences of academic staff and the potential of institutions in welcoming people from abroad – Welcome to Poland’ implemented within the framework of the Measure specified in the application for project funding No. POWR.03.03.00-00-PN14/18.
Since 2004 the Library of Lodz University of Technology has been cooperating with NUKAT: National Universal Central Catalogue. This provides, above all, tangible benefits when cataloguing the collection. The Library cooperates actively, i.e. it cannot only copy records and add its symbol to the original bibliographic records, but also enter KHW and bibliographic records into the central catalogue of Polish scientific libraries.
Since 2007 the Library has been a member of the nationwide BazTech Consortium within which it actively contributes to the BazTech database of the contents of Polish technical journals and the BazTOL database up to 2013, as well as entering data into the SYMPOnet database of conference proceedings up to 2014. The Library also participates in many national projects such as the co-creation of databases of The National Library. In addition, it cooperates with libraries of universities and scientific institutions in the exchange of duplicate books and journals.
In mid-2017 TUL Library signed an agreement with the Information and Library Centre of the Medical University of Lodz which enables BA, MA and PhD students and employees of TUL to borrow books from both libraries (PLUM project).
The library is also involved in a lot of charity activities and cooperates with many foundations and institutions. For several years we have been supporting the activities of the Kocia Mama Foundation – we regularly organise cat food collections and cat craft fairs.
