ABOUT BIBLIO-ART

The Biblio-Art Gallery, operating at the Library of Lodz University of Technology, was established in 2007 as a space for presenting the artistic work of the University’s employees and students. Over the years, the Gallery’s activities have expanded to include artistic and academic circles from other universities in Lodz, as well as artists from Poland and overseas. It is a place where Library’s visitors can experience art directly.

To this day, Biblio-Art has organised over a hundred of exhibitions presenting works of art in various genres, including painting, drawing, graphic art, photography, sculpture and animated film. Every year, visitors can admire several exhibitions by employees and students of Lodz University of Technology, other Lodz universities and affiliated or independent artists. The Gallery cooperates with, among others, the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz, the Shiller State Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre and The Association of Polish Artists and Designers, Lodz District.

Each exhibition is accompanied by a vernissage (or finissage) which provides an opportunity to talk to the artists and curators as well as exchange experiences.

The aim of Biblio-Art is to develop aesthetic sensitivity, make art accessible in the academic space and create a meeting place for technical and artistic communities.

Admission to the exhibitions is free, thanks to which the Gallery remains open to both the University community and all other interested parties i.e. city residents.
