Lodz University of Technology's Open Research Data Repository (RDB.open) was created with the aid of funding from Lodz University of Technology's Rector's Task Budget for 2020–2021. Depositing, sharing and storing open research data and user training are free of charge.
The RDB.open repository uses open source Dataverse software, developed by Harvard University and designed for building research data repositories. The pioneer of the implementation of the above software in Poland is the Open Science Platform team of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling at the University of Warsaw – RepOD Open Data Repository.
To log in to RDB.open, it is sufficient to use one’s institutional login credentials (Lodz University of Technology account and password). Once your open research data has been deposited, it will be stored on a long-term basis within the local computing infrastructure of Lodz University of Technology.
Research data can be organised in the repository according to the individual requirements of the department, laboratory or grant provider. Each dataset, so called dataset, is provided with a unique DOI identifier which increases its visibility, accessibility and affects citation frequency.
In order to obtain deposition rights and the ability to use the RDB.open functionality, the potential user needs to complete a training course which takes approximately 45 minutes.
To find a suitable repository for sharing and searching research data, an international repository registry can be used.
