Library training is a compulsory subject for first-year students at the Lodz University of Technology - both first- and second-cycle full-time and part-time. Since the academic year 2011/2012, the subject has been delivered by distance learning using the WIKAMP platform. The library training is designed to familiarise students starting their studies with the principles of using the resources and services offered by a university library, as well as with methods of searching for literature. The subject is taught in semester one.
Deadlines: winter semester
The test will be open from 7 October to 3 March 2025.
Access to the course
First-year students are automatically enrolled in the course when they receive their student card.
Direct access to the course is not available to:
- senior students who have not yet completed library training
- students who have changed their course and student book (index) number.
To access the course, they should contact the Department of Promotion and Information (e-mail opi@lib.p.lodz.pl) at the Lodz University of Technology Library.
During the course of studies, credit for library training is only required once and is also recognised after a change of major. Therefore, if a student has passed the subject before starting a new course or a second degree, he or she does not need to contact the Department of Promotion and Information about the training. For these students, the credits earned from the 2017/2018 academic year are rewritten. The credits are automatically rewritten at the end of the semester.
If a student completed the training prior to the 2017/2018 academic year, they should request access to the course and repeat the training.
To access the course you need to:
- go to the WIKAMP website
- select 'Student area'
- select 'Library training'
- log in (username and password the same as for WebDziekanat and mail)
- get acquainted with the material in the course and then take a test (getting at least 70% of the answers correct on the test means passing the course).
Passing the course
To receive credit for completing the library training course and have it marked in the student book (index) you must read the materials included in the course and correctly solve the test (at least 70% of answers need to be correct).
