The efficient operation of the Library is based on a department structure in which separate teams have specific scopes and competencies. The Library's main departments are responsible for user services, accumulation and cataloguing of collections, electronic resources, promotion of the Library and information technology services.
The Main Library consists of:
- User Services Department (Patent Information Centre and Interlibrary Loan Department function within the structure),
- Promotion and Information Department,
- Information Systems Department,
- Digital Resources Creation Department,
- Electronic Resources Department,
- Traditional Collections Department,
- Independent position for quality, library statistics and analysis.
The TUL Library structure also includes branch libraries, operating at the faculties of Lodz University of Technology, thus:
- Jerzy Samujłło’s Library of Civil Engineering and Architecture Library,
- Osman Achmatowicz’s Library of Chemistry.
