Social networking sites for scientists
ResearchGate is a free, open-access yet professional service for scientists and researchers around the world who use it to share research, discover and discuss research.
ResearchGate allows you to:
- make your publications available in full-text,
- gain access to millions of publications by other researchers,
- networking and collaboration,
- know the statistics, e.g. the number of people reading and citing a given publication.
Academia.edu – a platform for researchers to share articles. Researchers post there bibliographic data of their texts or files ready for download.
Academia.edu allows you to:
- share their research,
- monitor analyses on the impact of one's own research,
- track other researchers' scientific achievements.
Figshare is a repository designed for researchers who want to share their data in a friendly and easy way. The company responsible for the service specialises in creating the best software to securely and permanently store, manage and visualise data in a reliable and scalable way. The repository's creators aim for better dissemination, discoverability and reusability of scientific research.
Various types of materials can be uploaded to the site, such as:
- text files,
- pictures,
- audio and video files in all formats.
All materials are uploaded by researchers under a Creative Commons licence (CC0 or CC BY for datasets, CC BY for other materials) so that other researchers can use them freely.
LinkedIn – a social network that brings together specialists in many industries from both business world and academic institutions. The portal is aimed at establishing and maintaining professional-business contacts and promoting knowledge.

The National Information Processing Institute is a research and development unit that provides access to information about Polish science by publishing databases on institutions, projects, publications and scientific conferences. Its task is to facilitate rapid access to up-to-date and comprehensive information on Polish science.

POL-on
The most comprehensive repository of data on Polish science and higher education which also includes PBN (Polish Scientific Bibliography), POL-index (Polish Citation Database) and ORPPD (National Repository of Written Diploma Works). RAD-on (Reports Analysis Data)
An integrated information platform that collects, processes and shares information about higher education and science in Poland.
OSF (Obsługa Strumieni Finansowania) – Handling Funding Streams (HFS)
A system for registering and handling applications for science funding received by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, NCN and NCBR.
ELA
A system for monitoring the Economic Fate of College Graduates.
JSA
Unified Anti-Plagiarism System used to check diploma theses for plagiarism. The system is made available free of charge to all universities in Poland.
NAWA
The system of the National Agency for Academic Exchange supports academic exchange and international cooperation of Polish universities, enables the submission of applications for academic scholarships and supports the evaluation of scholarship applications, issuance of decisions, signing of agreements and submission of reports.
POL-on is an integrated information system on science and higher education which supports the work of departments of the Ministry of Science, as well as the Central Commission for Degrees and Titles. It collects all data on all Polish scientific entities. This is information to which public access is provided by laws and regulations of the Ministry of Science.
It also collects information on laboratories, research apparatus and library collections owned by universities, as well as on investments carried out by universities, scientific projects carried out, publications issued, patents obtained or achievements disseminating science.
You can also find indicators of university evaluation.
Polish Bibliography of Science is available on the POL-on website. It collects information on the achievements of Polish scientists and Polish scientific units. Institutions and individual users can maintain their scientific bibliography in PBN.
It stores a catalogue of individuals based on the POL-on system which collects data on employment, as well as on scientific degrees of Polish scientists.
Additionally, anyone interested can log into the system and create an author's record after providing their PESEL number. The record created in this way is saved in the POL-on system and can be supplemented with publications.

Information on scientific and research and development institutions (state and private universities, units of the Polish Academy of Sciences, research institutes), institutions and organisations supporting science (archives, libraries, museums), central administration bodies and non-governmental institutions and organizations responsible for shaping the state's scientific policy, societies, scientific associations and foundations working for science.
People of science
This is an information about Polish scientists (with at least a doctoral degree), Polish scholars abroad, foreigners working in Polish scientific and research and development institutions, and members of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, as well as promoters and reviewers of Polish research papers.
Research works (SYNABA system)
Data on scientific and research and development works, as well as doctoral and postdoctoral theses.

Archive projects
This is data on one’s own and supervisor’s research, development, commissioned and targeted projects.
The Open Science Platform is a competence centre for open models of scientific communication and knowledge distribution. It is a centre that offers solutions and tools for implementing these models.
The Open Science Platform is also a digital collection of Polish scientific publications. The resources made available are Polish scientific journals and books (Library of Science) and various types of scientific works – primarily articles – deposited by authors (OPEN – the Repository of Open Scientific Publications).
The National Research and Development Centre is a unit whose main task is to manage and implement strategic research and development programs affecting the development of innovation.
National Science Centre – an executive agency tasked with supporting scientific activity in basic research: experimental or theoretical work undertaken primarily to gain new knowledge about the fundamentals of phenomena and observable facts. Without a focus on practical application or use of the results of this work.
The Foundation for Polish Science – an independent and self-financing Polish non-profit non-governmental institution based in Warsaw.
It pursues its objectives through:
- support for outstanding scientists and research teams,
- modernising research facilities in all fields of science,
- supporting innovative projects,
- commercialisation of scientific discoveries and inventions.
In four areas of science, it awards a prize for special scientific achievements and discoveries, known as the ‘Polish Nobel’.
