Below are the rules for developing bibliography and footnotes.
Basic rules for developing a bibliography:
- information contained in the bibliographic description should uniquely identify the cited document;
- the data should be taken from the cited document;
- uniform style, format and punctuation should be used in all bibliographic descriptions;
- the elements of the bibliographic description that characterize the publication must be given in the language of the publication;
- elements supplementing the bibliographic description – abbreviations and designations, e.g., editors, edition, volume, pages – should be given in the language of the thesis being prepared;
- for online documents that are subject to change, the date of access to the document (date of use of the document) should be added;
- bibliographic descriptions should be in alphabetical order;
- descriptions of documents that are written in non-Latin alphabet should be transliterated.
When preparing a bibliography, the following Standard will be helpful: PN-ISO 690:2012 Information and documentation. Guidelines for developing bibliographic footnotes and references to information resources.
The requirements for compiling a list of literature (bibliography) and references to sources (footnotes) are specified in Appendix No. 10 to Order No. 75/2022 of the Rector of the Technical University of Lodz, dated December 22, 2022, on the Rules and Regulations for Diplomas and Anti-plagiarism Procedure for Dissertations at Lodz University of Technology.
