About the Library – history and collections
The Library of Chemistry was established in 1948. In 1964 it became the first branch library of Lodz University of Technology Library.
Since March 2002, the Chemical Library has had its headquarters in a modern three-story building, located next to the Faculty of Chemistry. It houses 2 reading rooms, a warehouse for archival prints and 3 computer labs with multimedia equipment available for teaching.
The Library of Chemistry collects books in both Polish and foreign languages in the field of chemistry and its related sciences in the broadest sense. It also serves as a teaching library: it has textbooks and academic scripts in chemistry, biology, physics, mathematics and environmental protection in its collection.
The library subscribes to selected titles of scientific journals in Polish and English.
The state of the collection as of 31.12.2022: 10,623 volumes of books and 27,369 volumes of periodicals.
All collections are provided with free access. There are 7 workstations with a computer and 131 places in reading rooms.
The Library of Chemistry cooperates with the ‘Politechnika’ Art Gallery – it presents painting, photography and other exhibitions in its premises.
