PLUM – peer-to-peer lending project

The PLUM project is the result of cooperation between the Library of Lodz University of Technology and the Information and Library Centre of the Medical University of Lodz. The initiative aims to widen access to a variety of sources and specialised literature.

The offer is available free of charge to BA, MA and PhD students and employees of TUL and UMED. All you need to do is go to the library of your university and fill in the form. Then, on presentation of your student, employee or library card you can borrow books from both libraries – up to 8 books for 14 days.

Rules

Shared loans can be used by employees, BA, MA and PhD doctoral students of Lodz University of Technology and the Medical University of Lodz.

To do so, please:

  • have an account in your university library,
  • report to a librarian in your university's library,
  • fill in a form containing consent to the processing of personal data and a commitment to comply with the regulations of the cooperating library.

Readers use one card (ID card or library card) in both libraries.

Specific rules for joint borrowing

  1. Books are borrowed in person at the library where they are located.
  2. Borrowing a book can be done on your own via self-check or from the librarian in the lending library.
  3. Books can be borrowed for 14 days with the possibility of being renewed once for another 14 days.
  4. A reader can borrow up to 8 books from the cooperating library.
  5. The borrowing of books from the collaborative lending library will not increase the individual borrowing limits from TUL Library and the UMED Information and Library Centre.
  6. Readers from Lodz University of Technology may borrow 4 copies from the student book collection (marked with yellow labels) located on the ground floor of the CIB UMED building and 4 copies from the medical book collection (marked with grey labels) located on the first floor of the CIB UMED building.
  7. Readers from the Medical University of Lodz may borrow 8 copies from the student book collection located on the first and second floors of the Main Library (not applicable to branch libraries).
  8. Books should be returned to the library from which they were borrowed.
  9. Missing the deadline for returning a book to any of the libraries will result in the reader's account being blocked.
  10. The libraries charge fees for exceeding the deadline for returning a book.
